Our Aussies are a very important part of Mount Joy Farms! Not only are they our companions and part of our family but they help us daily to move livestock.

We are selective in our breeding and are striving to produce dogs that will work all types of livestock for real life as well as the trial arena.

Our breeding dogs go back to HOF WTCH Hangin Tree Black Bear RDg RTDcs PATDc, HOF WTCH Hangin Tree Dude RD RTDcs PATDcs, and good old Las Rocosa dogs such as HOF WTCH Las Rocosa Bonny Kyle RDX. Along side with working ability, health, temperament & trainability, sound structure & beauty are also priority.

Our pups are brought up right! They are whelped & raised in our home, provided with veterinary care, high quality diets and lots of socialization! We welcome inquiries on our dogs and breeding plans. We guarantee our pups for hips, eyes & to be free of inherited epilepsy and offer "breeder support" to all who purchase our puppies. We will be there for you to answer any questions you have throughout the life of your Aussie! Have a look at our Aussie pages!

We are active in herding and have also enjoyed conformation & obedience competitions. Two of our Aussies have also become certified St John Ambulance therapy dogs and we plan to start our visitations winter of 06/07.

Note:

We receive many inquiries with people asking if our puppies would do well living the city life. The answer is yes. Some of our puppies do live "off the farm" and are wonderful pets! The most important thing to realize is that all Aussies in general are active dogs that require activity! They will be ready to play when you come home from work so we prefer our pups to go to active families that involve their dogs. If you are not going to work your dog on livestock or have a "job" for your dog, we recommend dog sports such as agility, flyball, frisbee or take your dog jogging or play catch in the park! The fun you can have with an Aussie is endless and if you so desire to work your dog on livestock, you can do that also!

We do our best to breed to the ASCA Breed Standard and if you are new to Aussies, please check out the Australian Shepherd Club of America website for lots of breed info: www.asca.org

We welcome inquiries on our dogs and breeding plans. If you would like to visit with our Aussies at our home, we would be happy to show them off and the coffee is always on!

What an amazing dog! His favorite thing to do is hit the pond. With the lifejacket on, he can pull the children on the boogey board. He learned that he can get the ball faster by jumping off the dock after another Aussie was beating him by diving off the doc.

Our Inspiration

Mount Joy's Molly

Hangin Tree Santino Bay x Denims Star Pic

Pictured here is our precious Molly. She is the inspiration of our breeding program and what we consider the "perfect" Aussie!

MOLLY
Molly

She was true to her breed in everyway from temperament, herding ability and complete devotion. She is the reason we fell in love with this breed! She worked the chutes fearlessly, finished the job with a no-quit attitude. She would work both ends and became extremely useful on the farm with minimal training. At the end of the day she would lay at our feet and live for our affection. Molly would constantly be on guard for our home and family. There will never be another that could fill her shoes but our hopes are to produce dogs close to it.

It was only after this loss that we decided to breed these incredible dogs as we knew we could never be without them ourselves and bloodlines like this are becoming increasingly difficult to acquire. Molly was a granddaughter of Hangin Tree Spook and her dam was a full sister to our Coco who goes back to some Las Rocosa greats! Molly has now crossed the rainbow bridge but she will live on in our hearts forever.

"A Working Dog"

I've seen the Rocky Mountains
And the Gulf of Mexico.
The California Surfers
and palm trees in a row.

I've read the works of Shakespeare,
and seen Picassos paint.
The sounds of concert pianists
And heard the bagpipes quaint.

And all of these have thrilled me'
But not could one compare
With watching herding dogs a-working,
A single or a pair.

There's magic in each movement
That Mozart never had
And beauty in each turn,
That makes my heard feel glad.

There's a science in each answer
Of every whistled tone,
That Newton never thought of
Nor ever was he shown.

There's feelings in the handling.
That only poets know,
Of men that work with stockdogs
And feel the teamwork grow.

Wherever life may take you
In sunshine or in fog,
You'll never quite forget it
When once you've worked a dog...
